Library’s Rules and Discipline

The library is a temple of knowledge, books are its idols, and reading is its adoration.
Kindly help maintain its dignity.

    • Carry your ID card when entering the library.
    • Readers are requested to maintain silence in the library. Avoid any conversation or consultation. Keep your mobile phones switched off or on silent mode inside the library.
    • Only books and notebooks are allowed inside; other belongings must be kept at the bag stand.
    • Marking books with pens or pencils, folding pages, or damaging them in any way is strictly prohibited. Violation may result in the cancellation of the library card.
    • Books, journals, magazines, and newspapers from the reference section are not to be issued.
    • Do not fold pages of books for photocopying; instead, write the page numbers on a slip and provide it with the book.
    • Leave the books on the table after reading.
    • Students are requested to sit in their designated areas.
    • Turn off fans and tube lights when not required.

Rules for Issuing/Returning Books

    • Only books from the textbook section will be issued. Reference books and magazines are for in-library use only.
    • After issuing books via the RFID KIOSK, show the receipt and books to the security guard or library staff before leaving the library.

    • After the above-mentioned period, a fine of ₹1 per day per book will be charged. Bring the receipt from the accounts office.
    • Books kept at the counter will not be issued. Bring the required books from the shelf for issuing.
    • Books issued on the same day cannot be returned.
    • Inspect the book carefully before issuing it. If the book is found damaged, its cost will have to be paid.
    • Issue books using your own library card. If books are issued on someone else’s card, the card will be confiscated and returned only after a fine of ₹50 is paid.
    • Verify the issue slip carefully.
    • In case of a damaged or lost library card, pay ₹100 at the cash counter to obtain a new one.
    • If a book is lost, a fine of ₹50 along with an additional 20% of the book’s current value must be paid. Alternatively, students can pay a fine of ₹50 and replace the book with its latest edition.
    • All library rooms are under CCTV surveillance. The premises are under continuous surveillance.
