HIstory
The pioneer work on Yagya was started by its parent institute in 1979 at Brahmavarchas Research Institute, All World Gayatri Pariwar. The center is aimed towards research in the Vedic method of Yagya under the aegis of Brahmavarchas Research Institute. The center works for all aspect of the Yagya including Yagya Therapy.
The use of yagya as Therapy is well documented in Vedic and Ayurvedic literature. During the Vedic times, Yagya therapy manifested into a highly sophisticated therapeutic system, being the primary mode of treatment having protocols for different purposes. For example, which animals’ ghee needs to be used, which rishi will perform which type of yagya, what types of mantra are needed, what kinds of material and wood to be used etc. Yagyavalkya Rishi was the prominent Rishi who worked on its spiritual and scientific aspects. Gurukuls and Aaranyaks which served as hospitals during the Vedic times were lost during the dark ages.
Param Pujya Gurudev revived the yagya therapy in 1979, and under his direct guidance and protection, HH Chancellor Dr. Pranav Pandya continued his efforts helped in starting Brahmavarchas Shodh Sansthan (BSS). The fundamental and foundation work on Yagya Therapy and different aspect of Yagya in modern time was established and carried out at BSS. The research work is being continued by Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya since 2003.
The research work of (BSS) on Yagya is being further continued by the Yagyavalkya Center for Yagya Research at Dev Sanskriti University. The herbal mixtures are prepared and made available to patients through Department of Ayurveda and Holistic Health.

Yagya therapy in scriptures
There are many references to inhalation therapies in Ayurvedic texts. Bhaishajya Ratnavali and Yoga Ratnakar have details of Dhoomapana which refers to specific herbal medicinal smoke inhalation to cure ailments like fever, epilepsy, worm infection, syphilis, psychological disorders and also for healthy pregnancy. The inhalation of medicinal smoke of a specific herbal powder combination of neem leaves (Melia azadirachta-Linn.), bach (Acorus calamus-Linn.), kooth (Saussurea lappa-C.B.C.), harad (Terminalia chebula-Retz.), saraso (Brassica campestris-Linn.) and googal (Commiphora mukul-Engl.), destroys chronic fever in patients. Atharva Veda has many references of Yagya for long healthy life and for curing many diseases (3/11/1-8), for worm infections (1/8; 5/29/4; 5/29/6,7,8,9), for fever (1/12/2,3; 5/22/1,2; 5/22/10/13), for mania (6/111/2), for goiter (6/83/1-4; 7/78/4). The Yajur Veda contains the knowledge of the principles and methods of performing yagyas as part of spiritual and scientific experiments for global welfare. The Sam-Veda focuses on the musical chanting patterns of the mantras that deal with the subtle forms of yagya pertaining to mental oblation in the deeper core of emotions.
