Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV) was established as the realization of the visionary ideals of Yugrishi Pujya Gurudev Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya Ji, a revolutionary seer, spiritual leader, and social reformer. The University is part of a larger mission dedicated to guiding humanity through the socio-political, environmental, cultural, and economic challenges of the 21st century.
At the heart of DSVV’s foundation is the vision of preserving and promoting Dev Sanskriti—the divine culture of India—by integrating practical knowledge (Shiksha) with spiritual wisdom (Vidya). This unique synthesis aims to nurture enlightened individuals who are capable, compassionate, morally responsible, and committed to meaningful service to society.
Located in the serene foothills of the Himalayas, DSVV is a distinctive institution that harmoniously blends traditional Indian values with modern educational frameworks. Guided by its motto, “A University for Global, Cultural, and Spiritual Renaissance,” the University is committed to value-based education that shapes students into selfless, disciplined, and socially conscious citizens.
DSVV’s academic environment combines modern learning facilities with the timeless wisdom of ancient Indian traditions. Students are encouraged to lead a simple, balanced, and spiritually enriched lifestyle while pursuing contemporary education. The University’s Gyan Deeksha Ceremony, a Vedic ritual conducted at the beginning of every academic session, reflects this approach. During the ceremony, students are inspired to pursue knowledge rooted in values and dedicate themselves to the service of society.
A defining feature of DSVV is its compulsory course in Scientific Spirituality and Life Management, offered across 2 to 4 semesters. The course focuses on life skills, ethical development, and universal human values such as truth, righteousness, peace, love, non-violence, and responsible citizenship. The curriculum emphasizes holistic growth through yoga, yagya, meditation, sports, and community service, supporting the social, psychological, moral, and spiritual development of students.
In addition to its academic focus, DSVV runs Pariviksha, its flagship social internship program. Through this initiative, students gain practical exposure to lifestyle management, social upliftment, creative excellence, and community engagement. The program plays a significant role in character-building and experiential learning.
DSVV is equally committed to environmental sustainability. The campus follows eco-conscious practices, including recycling, reuse of resources, and energy conservation. The University has received ISO certification for its energy conservation initiatives. Its unique environmental initiative, “Degree ho pana to Panch Vriksha lagana,” encourages every graduating student to plant five trees, reinforcing DSVV’s deep commitment to ecological responsibility.
A strong sense of national pride is woven into the University’s culture. DSVV’s Shaurya Deewar—the Wall of Heroes—is a memorial dedicated to India’s gallantry award winners. Students pay tribute to these national heroes by singing the National Anthem daily, nurturing patriotism and a spirit of national service.
