About Us
- Established on 21st June 2004 as the ‘Department of Rural Management’.
- Earlier a 'Creative Cell' in Shantikunj (Mother Organisation) from 1995 to 2004 to give
concrete shape to Yugrishi's Gram Teerth Yojana through various trainings. - After the restructuring of the university in 2018, the name of this department has been
changed to the Department of Rural Studies and Sustainability

Vision
- Develop villages as a cultured, addiction free, clean, healthy, educated and self reliant
with full of cooperation and become model of Rural India’s development
Mission
- Understand problems of the Indian rural sector
- Preparing resource persons for rural development works.
- Develop appropriate skill based training programmes for rural development.
- Develop an institutional framework across the country for training and development.
- Develop a network of efficient 'Gaushalas' across the country for the overall development of villages.
